Who Is Rajmond Orsos?

Rajmond Orsos is an extraordinary, 17 years old Roma boy from Drahnov, Slovakia, trying to break out from extreme poverty and despair. Rajmond has been focusing on his language studies, because he has realised that knowledge is the one and only way out of what he has as an everyday life. He has learnt English autodidactically (all by himself), fuelled by his passion, limitless interest and a desperate craving for a better life.

Rajmond is unique. While his peers are out, playing football or committing pity crimes to be able to eat something that evening or just out of excitement, Rajmond is in his room, next to a candle, expanding his knowledge and thinking long-term. “I had to witness my own friend, Gyozo, being knifed to death…no one did anything.”

What are Rajmond's Dreams?

"I want to do 3 language-exams (jazykové skúšky) so I can work abroad... [this place] is dangerous and the people here laugh at me because I study..." "I want to apply to university next year... I'd like to be a doctor. A cardiologist..." – then a teardrop rolled down his left cheek, he wiped it off, and looked at me to see if I noticed. He's almost a grown man after all... He has to be strong. "My father was killed when I was 14. They stabbed him to death on the way to a job interview (pracovný pohovor) just outside of Košice..."

Rajmond is different. He sees something no one else sees around him. A future. A hope for something different and better. Help him towards his goals with a small contribution. Even just the price of a coffee or a sandwich. He values every single piece of help.

Thank you very much. Video coming soon.
