Agnes, Imogen, Tony, and I are helping to raise funds for scholarships to send our family and other families to ConnecT1D diabetes Family Camp this fall. Our family attended the camp last year for the first time, and it was an incredibly valuable experience.
ConnecT1D Family Camp welcomes families of children impacted by Type 1 Diabetes for a weekend of connecting, learning, and memory making. Guest speakers discuss strategies for health management, explore social and emotional aspects of living with a chronic health condition, give updates on research advances, and share tools for advocacy. Children have the opportunity to play and make friends with other kids who understand life with type 1 diabetes.
We love Family Camp because it's a special time for our family to create positive memories together, and a chance to rally around Agnes. At last year's camp, we met families with more than one child with Type 1 diabetes. We also met single parents caring for their Type 1 kid all alone--incredibly demanding work. It was clear that Family Camp was not only a rare vacation for these families, but also a lifeline to a crucial source of support.
Please consider giving what you can to help Type 1 families to have this time together, and for us to join them.
