In the evening of June 30 2016, baby Javi's mother needed to undergo emergency C- section as it was discovered that her amniotic fluid had significantly lowered. This was very alarming considering the short time it changed from her last check – up and we were still a week away from her scheduled due date.
Luckily, there was no ill effect on her health and she was able to recover. However, there was a complication to the health of baby Javi as he came out under developed. Sadly, the doctors also advised that he also ingested most of the fluid in her placenta. Thus, he was occasionally throwing up the fluid every time they would feed him. He was placed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for further care.
After further evaluation, Javi was diagnosed with an obstruction to his intestines as he had not been tolerating feeding and had to be given nutrients thru I-V or tube thru his mouth. Surgery was recommended as a solution to his gastro problem – it was discovered in surgery that he had suffered from stenosis in the intestines which was preventing his stomach from further digesting his food to the lower intestines. As per doctors, he tolerated the surgery well and so far, there is no indication yet that the surgery did not work. He is currently in the NICU and may be there for a period of 7 to 14 days depending on the speed of his recovery.
Although Javi's parents were able to utilize their savings, it may unfortunately be not enough based on the recent evaluation of medical expenses. Due to this unforeseen complication as earlier check- ups showed normal pregnancy results, Javi's family is humbly requesting for any financial assistance you may extend us in paying for Javi's medical bills. Any donations are very much needed and greatly appreciated!
