Help butterfly children to fly again
Organized by: Tugba Isiker
I am a mother of 7 months old, and my world stops when my son cries. This is not my tragedy but it could have been mine too. When I have read about the kids who are in excruciating pain because of their illnesses called "epidermolysis bullosa" aka buttefly children,
I cannot even imagine what their moms are going through. The worst thing that could ever happen in life, is being desperate and helpless when your baby is in pain but there is nothing you can do to comfort him/her. I saw pictures of tiny little kid who is suffering from this untreatable illness and I promised myself to make their life easier and less painfull with the help of people who feels same way I do. Butterfly children have very fragile skin that blisters and tears even in minor friction which can cause sepsis, skin cancer and death. Because of their blisters those kids are in constant pain, and they need medical attention all the time. Changing a diaper or undressing them can cause them blister in which results with screams and cries. There are methods to lessen their pain or prevent any further complication but that requires meticulous and costly care. Perhaps you can help us to buy some bandages or ointment...
