Help Christa replace her stolen flute
Organized by: Christa Isenhart
I have loved playing the flute since I was nine years old. When I was in high school I got really serious about playing and my parents bought me a beautiful professional quality flute.
I got my degree in Music Performance and one of the greatest joys in my life is playing all kinds of music with other wonderful musicians. There is nothing like jamming in a Celtic music session or playing for belly dancers as they dance around the camp fire or playing in a orchestra.
In September 2013 the area where I live in Colorado experienced a devastating flood event. Our neighborhood alone had millions of dollars of damage, we had to be evacuated by helicopter and couldn't live in our home for 9 months.
The day we were evacuated, while we were at the evacuation center the little bag that held my beloved flute was stolen. Because we were so traumatized from everything that was happening and in such shock I didn't realize it was gone until late that night. Once I realized it had been stolen and not just misplaced I was devastated.
That flute had gone through so many experiences with me. I played it at many friends weddings and at funerals including my grandmother's & father-in-law's. I played it for my daughters when they were babies and then played with them when they were old enough to learn to play. I had the huge pleasure of doing a solo performance in the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi, Italy and was one of the soloists performing Bach's Brandenburg Concerto #4 with a chamber orchestra in Saumur, France.
I've been so lucky to have been able to perform amazing original compositions (how cool is that!!) and so blessed to have been able to play with phenomenal musicians.
We are still working to pay for the damage from the flood and there is no budget to get a replacement for my flute. It is a hard thing to ask people for help for something as big as this but without your help I won't be able to get another flute. So I am asking for your help to raise the money.
A piece of my soul has been taken. I'm hoping you can help me get it back.
