Help Darwin Get New Glasses For Jobs
Organized by: Darwin Rose Forca
Update: My current glasses broke and then I was able to glue them together for a short-term fix. They are still an outdated perscription that I need to have replaced. I have been having some good leads on jobs in Seattle, but still need a car, and thus a driver's license, to get there. I also have someone who offered to pay for my learner's permit fees, so I have decided to just focus on getting money for new glasses.
The story: First, I need the right prescription for my glasses. I have mixed astigmatism and I need specialized lenses to see well enough to drive. The average cost of these is $196.
Then I can get a learner's permit with the money promised from an outside donor, and hopefully find someone who will give me driving lessons for free.
My Master's degree primarily applies to education and nonprofit work, and many of the jobs out there in that field require you to be able to get out to different campuses and locations quickly. Most of them are asking for proof of valid license and insurance before they hire you.
The insurance I can figure out on my own, but since graduating, the rest of my money has gone to rent and bills to bide my time while job hunting. Having a license will make that a whole lot easier. Any help is appreciated.
