Help Dr. Robertson(Shawn) get a handicap van!
Organized by: Melody Goins
Shawn is an inspiring, beautiful lady. Her personality contagious. She smiles and the room brightens. Most of you know that Dr. Robertson(Shawn) suffered a massive stroke January 19, 2008, leaving her paralyzed completely on the right side. She was only 50 years old, with a four children at home at that time, the youngest, seven years old, and the oldest to graduate that year from high school. She struggled, as a single parent, with no family here in North Carolina, and moved to Florida in 2012, to be near family. Unfortunately in the last two years, her health has declined more and she has been dependent on a wheelchair. In addition, her mother has moved in as well, at the age of 82, suffering from dementia, and also in a wheelchair most of the time. After returning from a visit in September, this year, and observing their needs, I felt lead to help. It is very difficult to transfer her to a vehicle, since she is now unable to walk at all, and she has many doctor visits. Her children are very active in swim meets and theater plays and Megan is only able to handle one wheelchair at a time, and an electric wheelchair is not an option with the vehicle they have. Many of you may think since she was a doctor, she was financially set, but that is not the case. Dr. Elizabeth Robertson, (Shawn) was more than a doctor to all she served. She was a cheerleader, a spiritual supporter, friend, and confidant, and now she needs us to be the same. A handicap van would be a great blessing to them, as would a new electric/lift wheelchair with any remaining funds, as she is having difficulty with approval from Medicare. We are praying to be able to purchase both with your help. Any amount will make a difference. If you are unable to contribute financially, we ask you to share this post as it may reach others that she has touch. Please help us make a difference.
