BENEFITING: EMPOWERED BY LIGHT FOUNDATION
Join us in this next phase of bringing power to the protectors of Chitwan National Park and empowering women entrepreneurs. We’re working to bring solar power to a ranger station in support of the protectors of Chitwan National Park, Nepal’s first National Park, who are actively fighting aggressive poaching operations. The park is home to one of the last populations of single-horned Asiatic rhinoceros and is also one of the last refuges of the Bengal Tiger.
And we’ll support local women to get the training and tools they need to sell low-cost clean energy technologies to people living in the buffer zone that surrounds the park -- so that families can avoid using the natural resources from the park. This fall’s effort will train 10 local women, whose economic opportunities have traditionally been limited.
This is all part of the continued collaboration in Nepal by Empowered by Light, which helps remote communities throughout the world develop renewable energy projects, and Empower Generation, which empowers rural women to start their own businesses, distributing clean energy technology to their energy-poor communities.become clean-energy entrepreneurs.
Check out the video, Bufferzone, that explores how rangers are protecting endangered rhinos and tigers, women are breaking from tradition to enter the workforce, and villagers are working for a better life by the incredible landscape they share -- and by the creative deployment of solar energy.
