BENEFITING: Family Promise of Orange County, Inc.
We all know that homelessness is a huge issue in Los Angeles, CA-- let alone the nation. What personally strikes me about this cause is the stigma around homeless people and the assumptions made about them; drug abusers, mentally disabled, etc etc-- as if they have chosen to put themselves in these predicaments. I always say that in almost a moment's notice, our situations can dramatically shift and alter our lives; basically, unfortunate things can happen and it is our duty to one another to take care of each other. Your problems are my problems and community is profound-- so let's take action! Family Promise of Orange County is an organization set up to provide emergency shelter, transitional housing, and meal programs/human resources aid for homeless families. "No child should have to sleep in a car, in a park, or under a bridge, and that every family deserves a chance to be whole and have a roof over their head once again." All proceeds go directly to the organization to fund the three domains I had mentioned: emergency shelter, transitional housing (where families pay minimal rent for up to 6 months in order to use that time to get back on their feet), and meal programs/human resources aid for the families. We all enjoy a few outings a week where we spend anywhere between $50-$100 on food, drinks, and having a good time. Instead of indulging to that level for one week, I ask that you please-- just for ONE WEEK-- set aside a fraction of your disposable funds to help a family get back into their homes. It will go a long way. Think about how amazing it feels to come home after a long, hard day and just sink into your couch or bed and relax-- everyone deserves to have that regardless of their background. So please take action-- and these families and I will be forever grateful for your support. Thank you!!!
