Help Feed People in Philly
Organized by: Barbara Grimaldi
EVENT DATE Oct 02, 2017
We need $5,000 to feed 20,000 people in one of the hungriest parts of Philadelphia. Can you help?
On Saturday, October 28, 2017, three churches will come together to package 20,000 meals for the people in West Philadelphia: Grace Lutheran Church, University Lutheran Church of the Incarnation, and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Narberth.
Grace Lutheran operates a food pantry in the Mantua neighborhood of Philadelphia, and in 2016 alone, they served more than 33,000 families. The poverty rate in Mantua and surrounding neighborhoods is 50% - nearly double the city-wide rate. By packaging 20,000 meals, we'll help to stock Grace Lutheran's pantry with healthy food options for their neighbors in need.
Interested in serving with us? You can learn more and sign up here or by emailing (firstname.lastname@example.org) or calling (610-664-5503) us.
Thanks for considering making a donation to help feed people in need. This is the third year we've gathered to make a difference together. In 2015, we packaged more than 21,000 meals, and did another 20,000 again in 2016. This is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's 'God's Work Our Hands' initiative and is hosted with support from End Hunger NE.
"Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled." (Luke 6:21)
