HELP FREE GINO IZAGUIRRE!!
The main purpose of this page is to help raise money for an experienced attorney to represent Gino Izaguirre, but also to raise awareness about the cruel and unwarranted treatment of the minority by the Chicago PD. As a close friend to Gino I feel as though it's my responsibility to inform the public of the cruelty and discrimination he has suffered. Gino and I have had many conversation about the difficulties of being a Mexican American in the city of Chicago, not only because of the on-going gang violence directed towards any males with Hispanic origins despite whether they are affiliated with a gang or not, but also because the police discriminate against him and many others because of the color of their skin. I know there are so many of you out there that can relate to this situation, so all I ask is for you to hear me out and then decide if this is a cause you would like to help us support. Those of you who know Gino, know that he is not one to go out begging for money, but because of the severity and injustice of this case he has allowed me to make an exception by creating this site.
Here is Gino's situation: One evening Gino was brutally beaten and arrested, all of which would have been avoided if he had not been wrongfully pulled over by an unmarked police vehicle. The police officer that approached his window claimed he had a tail light that was out, BUT this was untrue! Both tail lights were in FULL working order. Gino cooperated with the officers request to present licience and registration. There was no questionable behavior happening within the car, in fact, Gino was considerately driving his grandma and her friend somewhere they needed to go. After the officer looked over Gino's information and asked a few questions about the vehicle, the officer asked Gino to step out of the vehicle because he claimed that "Gino was making him feel uncomfortable". Of course at this point Gino felt as though he was being treated unfairly and expressed that freely as he normally does, but NOT in a violent manner. This is when the multiple officiers proceeded to brutally beat him and even held a gun to his brother head and threaten to shoot and kill him for wanting to help protect his brother from the violent beating he was receiving. Gino is now facing jail time for charges that only came about through an unlawful traffic stop. Gino was pulled over by those officiers because he was a Hispanic male in the southwest side of Chicago, NOT because his tail lights were out. He was also asked to step out of the vehicle because he was a Hispanic male and not because he was "making the officer feel uncomfortable". No matter what your race or ethnicity may be, if you are in the minority you HAVE experienced similar discrimination, whether it was by police or other civilians. It is time for it to come to an end! The only way to inform the public about the injustice Gino has suffered is to hire a skilled and experienced attorney. Unfortunately the good ones are always pricey. But anyone who has experience with the legal system knows that public defenders usually don't have their clients absolute best interest at heart. So please help us seek justice for Gino in the name of all the other minorities that have suffered from the unfair discrimination of the Chicago PD or any other authority figure misusing their power!
Also, if anyone would like more information about the situation feel free to send me a private message on Facebook- Brooke Forehand. I know Gino has a lot of friends out there and right now he really needs your help!
If you decide that this is a cause you'd like to support, I know a lot of people don't necessarily deal with credit cards or anything, but using those prepaid visa gift cards works as well.
