Help for a fellow Mom
Organized by: Tonya Dugan
Last week, our fellow Mom and friend Michele Davis had to go through one of those moments all parents fear most; Michele found her daughter Jaina walking around in a zombie-like trance and was totally unresponsive. Michele had no idea what was wrong with her. After a CT scan and blood work they sent her home on antibiotics. Two days later it happened again; Jaina had been eating lunch and Michele saw she wasn't moving and was drooling. Michele thought she was choking. She tried the Heimlich maneuver only to produce foam and more drool. She was screaming and thankfully her neighbor was nearby to help her call 911. She was rushed to Albany med for further testing. After two days in the hospital and lots of tests, she has been sent home with an initial diagnosis of Epilepsy and the medications to manage it. At this point it is an initial diagnosis, there is still more testing that needs to be done. Michele was out of work for a week with no paid time off and is now incurring medical expenses. She hasn't even received the bills from the hospital yet. So many of us live paycheck to paycheck and know losing a weeks pay can set us back for months. So we have started this fundraiser to help offset that. Any amount helps, especially when we come together!
