BENEFITING: The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region
We cannot imagine the devastation of losing a new home, all of your belongings, and your beloved pets all in one night. What we can imagine is a brighter future for our neighbors. You can help us by donating today.
On Tuesday, July 19, 2016, a local Aberdeen family experienced a true nightmare: their new home, which they had lived in for only four days, was set ablaze while they were out running errands. According to the Aberdeen Patch: "The house was considered a total loss, the fire marshal said. There was $100,000 in structural damage; in addition, approximately $100,000 worth of items inside were lost. A family dog and bird died as a result of the blaze, the fire marshal said."
This family needs our community's help. Their 15 year old daughter is on a feeding tube, and they lost all of her formula in the fire. Medical Assistance is unable to cover the cost as it is too early for them to order more. Each case of "Compleat" formula is 24 feedings, and the family only has one case left. Their daughter requires seven feedings a day. It is $74.99 per case. They are able to supplement the formula with pureed food, but their food processor was also lost in the fire.
Other needed items are bags for the feeding pump, a kitchen table and chairs, utensils, plates, cups, pots and pans, etc. The mother has also tried so hard to get the smell of smoke out of her family's clothing, but has not been successful.
The family moves into a new house on Wednesday, July 27. Amongst their many other expenses, with your support, The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region can help this family by purchasing the needed items above. Thank you for your consideration!
