Help Georgia Grace dance again
Organized by: Newanna Glassman
My niece, Georgia Grace is my personal hero. She is the most incredible, smart, beautiful and talented 12 year old woman/child I know. She has struggled for years with odd health issues. About a year and a half ago, she had what my sister and brother in law believed to be a stroke. They rushed her to the hospital and after two months and after being poked and prodded and under going every test imaginable she was diagnosed with a very rare auto-immune disease called Hashimoto's Encephalopathy, which is basically her immune system attacking her brain. She suffers from multiple symptoms, such as a constant state of seizure, she has lost her ability to read, dance or even play. She shakes so much and has become so weak that even the simplest tasks have become impossible. Since this diagnoses, she has also been diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma. She has undergone many procedures, including an MRI guided biopsy to remove a lump in her shoulder that was difficult to get to. She also had a lump the size of a plumb in her lung. She is back in the hospital to have at least three more tumors looked at. So much going on that I can hardly keep up. Georgia Grace was a straight A student, a dance prodigy, a budding veterinarian... She has the sweetest, most compassionate spirit of anyone I know. The last two years have beens so difficult for my baby sisters family. The bills are piling up and there is no way of knowing how this will play out. My dream for Georgia Grace is to see her dance again. I wish there were some way to convey in this short essay how much this would mean to her. She loves to dance. She was devastated when she lost the ability to do so. Please, reach into your hearts and help this wonderful child to live her dreams.
