Help get Cindy Lou to the Migraine Specialist!
Organized by: Cindy Lou Noord
Ever since I was a little kid, I've gotten migraines. At first they were controllable by just wearing sunglasses, but as I grew up they became worse. Hormones became involved, as did a severe concussion, and the migraines grew. The past 27 years, I've seen doctor after doctor, each prescribing new medicine. Still the migraines won. I've seen everyone from local neurologists and pain doctors to eight years with the so called best in world migraine specialists, and yet the migraines still win. I've tried alpha blockers, beta blockers, anti seizure medications, nerve blocks, occipital blocks, sphenopalatine ganglion blocks, facet injections, narcotics, even botox. In other words, I've run the gamut. Nothing works. My daily life right now consists of laying in bed with my head on an ice pack, as it has everyday for approximately the last ten years. I fear it will continue to be this way if I do not get help soon. My 71 year old mother cooks for me, does my laundry, cleans the house. Everything I should be doing for her, but the pain robs me of my life. At one point the pain was so bad that I even comtemplated suicide. There's a shining light though. I'm seeing a new neurologist, Dr. Yvonne Curran at Northwestern who think that an evaluation at Michigan Head Pain & Neurological Institute in Chelsea, MI may be the next hope for me. They employ a staff entirely consisting of neurologists who would reevaluate me from head to toe in a better attempt at finding the source of my pain. Here's where you come in. I live about seven hours from this hospital, and living on my small disability check and my parents social security, it would be impossible for me to make it to see these new doctors. The premise of the hospital is of an out patient nature, so the expenses would be for our trip, hotel room, rent a car, and medical copays during my two to three week stay. If you could spare just a few dollars, I would really, truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. I can understand if you're put off by a site like this though, so if you would like to donate to me directly, you may contact me at email@example.com Thank you again for reading my story, and may God Bless You.
