Help Gibbs walk again
Organized by: Carolyn West
Gibbs is home
October 22, 2016
EVENT DATE Oct 21, 2016
On Tuesday September 6th, Keon and I came home from work and Gibbs didn't run to the door to greet us. We left him to sleep, and when he didn't come watch me make dinner, we knew something was wrong. Keon picked up Gibbs, and he immediately wanted down - very unusual for our snuggle bug. When Keon did put him down, he crumpled into a little ball. We tried coaxing him to walk by calling him and playing with his favourite toy, Monkey. He had no interest in playing, and crawled back to his bed. The next day, we visited the vet who performed an examination and then x-rays. It turned out that Gibbs had broken his tiny left hip. Unfortunately, we will never know how it happened, but what's most important now is fixing it. Our vet Dr Goldstein contacted an orthopedic surgeon who gave us a quote of $2500 for the cost of Gibbs surgery. This is very costly, but we will do anything for our little boy. We are currently waiting on a date for surgery, and Gibbs is being a very good little patient.
UPDATE: SURGERY IS SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 21S.
I started a small online fundraiser to help with the expense of Gibbs surgery.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
