Well we are temporarily out of the shelter and I've been offered a part time job working with people with mental illness like myself! In addition See More

This fundraiser is important because finding housing for couples is very difficult through government agencies and charities. They are set up for Veterans, Drug Addicts and Alcoholics in Treatment, Families with children under the age of 18 and Single People. I've not found anything out there for couples, especially those struggling with mental illness! We are a gay couple who struggles with mental illness and are both survivors of domestic violence and hate crimes. Through it all, we are survivors. For 6 years we've lived in the shelter systems of New York City and Chicago. In addition we have produced 9 concerts between October 2011 and June 2016, 4 Opera concerts, 2 Jazz piano concerts, 1 classical piano recital in New York City between June of 2014 and August 2015, thanks to amazing artist who saw my vision and graciously donated their talent. We've been deemed unemployable in New York and Illinois, so we decided to turn our passions for opera and my partners wonderful art work into a business for us. However it takes time to build a following. We do feel we are doing the right thing by following our passion. We are seeking help from kind loving supporters of the Artist Community as well as the LGBTQ Community to help us get into housing before winter sets in here in Chicago, and help us get through until we are able to finally not only get our disability, but build a large enough audience to support not only our little opera company, but us as well! Thank you for your help!
