BENEFITING: MARGARET ANNA CUSACK CARE CENTER INC
Join us as we celebrate our beloved Mrs. India Edwards as we celebrate her turning 98. After a long career of caring for and looking out for the elderly, recently Mrs. Edwards needed the support, care and love of others for rehab and nursing care and the Cusack Care Center was there to get her up on her feet and back home. To honor India and help provide critical care and program services to the elderly they serve, please consider a gift to the Cusack Care Center to honor India on this remarkable milestone.
Mrs. Edwards has served on the boards of the Homemaker Service, Meals on Wheels Program Hudson County Council of Social Agencies, Easter Seal Society for Crippled Children and Adults, Lutheran Sheltered Homes and United Way. She is a lifelong member of the NAACP, charter member of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC, and member of the NJ Chapter of AAHGS, the African American Historical & Genealogical Society. Last year she and one of her daughters represented AAHGS at a Scotch Plains Public Library program, where they shared Mrs. Edwards’ fascinating genealogy
At 97 years young, with an amazing zest for life, Mrs. Edwards enjoys family, friends, theater, art, writing, reading, poetry and exploring ancestry. She is the matriarch of a small, loving, close-knit family, which includes 4 daughters, 2 sons-in-law, 2 nieces, 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a large extended family. Dancing continues to be a joy and on special occasions, Mrs. Edwards can be spotted on the dance floor as soon as she hears the opening notes of, “Funkin’ for Jamaica”.
