BENEFITING: International Rescue Committee
My name is Olivia Yasmine and for the past 2 years I have been following the conflict in Syria in hopes to see at least some improvement in the treatment of Syrians. The civil war in Syria began in early 2011, when the people demanded an end to the iron-fisted regime of Bashar al-Assad. Since, it has gained international involvement from major powers such as the United States and Russia. An estimated 220,000 Syrians have been killed, 4.7 million have fled the country and 6.6 million remain displaced within its borders and those numbers are only expected to rise.
While I'm unable to go to Syria myself and help those in need, I'm willing to do whatever I can from where I am to make an impact and spread the word about what I'm passionate about. Which is fighting for those who have been denied basic human rights and access to food, water and education.
Your support allows International Rescue Committee (IRC) to help refugees inside Syria and in the bordering countries of Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, and Turkey with medical and emergency supplies. In refugee camps they are providing food, water, sanitation and education services for children. IRC is also offering counseling, safety and support for women and young girls at risk.
Together we can work to improve the lives of the people of Syria!
Now, more than ever, your support is needed!
