Help Kate and Dana get back on they're feet
Organized by: Dana Geissler
Hello my name is Dana Geissler. My girlfriend (Kate) and I are currently homeless and are now without a car. About three months ago we had a series of unfortunate events happen to us and our families. We originally had a roof over our heads and a car to get us to work, everyone in life will run into a bump in the road. Our first bump that started this downward spiral was my father going to the iccu in abington hospital. He had a infection in his tooth that he didn't bother treating. Needless to say the infection started to spread through out his body, He was rushed to the hospital to be treated and thankfully he made with with a hour to spare before he was to pass away due to his foolishness. I took days off of work to see him in the hospital. but for all the days I missed there was a reaction to my job. I lost my career for my father. So I began searching for a new income. WhIle this was going on Kaitlyn's (my girlfriend) father and grandmother were also in the hospital. Her grandmother had a series of mini strokes and her father was having kidney infections. It was to much stress to bare for us, but we continued to fight to keep everything together. We were a balancing act so to speak. We made sure to see family and support them while trying to provide for ourselves. It was hard but we were managing to keep structure. Kates grandmother to this day is still fighting to stay healthy and is in the process of trying to get her memories back. All of this was almost to much stress to take. Well unfortunately the stress continued to build as we were living with a roommate that had a drug addiction. Everyday we would come home to missing electronics, money, and precious materials. One day we brought it up to our roommate that our property was missing. I want to let you know that the house we were living in was our roommates. She denied the fact of taken our items, and everyday it continued to happen. Well one day she told us that she didn't want us living there anymore and said we have 2 days to get everything packed and out of the house. So we had no choice and no time to look for another place to live. We became homeless with a car. For a couple of months we still had our car and a job to keep us going. We tried to save money but living in the car we had to repair it constantly to keep a roof over our heads. We were managing to keep it up and running until two weeks ago we got into a car accident. Luckily we didn't get hurt but our car was totalled. That being said I lost the job I had due to having no money and no transportation to get there. Everyday I made a effort to walk to my job but would run into being late here and there. We are at a stand still. We tried to get help from the state but we didn't meet their requirements so that was out of the picture. We asked our family for help but they didn't have the room or financial income to take us in. So for the past 2 weeks we have been walking around applying to jobs and a night we sleep outside in a forested area in warminster. The nights are getting cold and we don't know how we are going to survive when winter comes. We need help but don't know where to go to find it. I want to let you know that with any money we make will be going to transportation and a roof over our heads. We currently go to food banks Tuesday and Thursday to eat and we fill out surveys to get 5$ gift cards for places we can buy water from. If you can find it in your hearts to help a struggling couple to get back up on their feet we would greatly appreciate anything you can offer. Please help us we will keep everyone updated on our status to getting back to where we were. Do you ever feel as if you deserve a second chance? We believe everyone can change for the better with the right kind of help.
