Help Me Gain Freedom through a Service Dog
Organized by: Hannah Fisher
At the age of 11, I developed one of the most painful medical conditions known to man, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, in both my hands and feet. During the past 9 years, the condition has gotten progressively worse, making it difficult to do everyday tasks on my own. Due to the difficulties even walking from my dorm to class, I had to move back home and switch to online college, losing even that little bit of freedom. Because this is a degenerative condition, I am trying to maintain as much freedom as possible as I get progressively sicker, leading me to look into obtaining a service dog. The service animal would allow me to be less dependent on family, friends, and sometimes strangers as I try to accomplish everyday tasks, such as opening containers, changing clothes, picking up items, opening doors, etc. Unfortunately, I just learned that these service animals cost $8,500 which, as a college student, is just not possible. So I would be incredibly grateful in you were to take some time out of your day to help me gain freedom. Thank you!
