BENEFITING: The Syria Fund, Inc.
Imagine having everything you've ever known reduced to rubble... being forced to flee to a neighboring country for safety- only to be faced with a new set of difficulties. This is the life of millions of Syrians today. Most Syrian children can't remember a life without daily air raids and bombings.
If we don't do anything to help, one day the historybooks will tell of a generation that stood by and watched as one of the biggest genocides took place: the Syrian Civil War. Take action, speak out, love more... Together we can make a difference
I'm Yasmine, the 17 year old author of Spirit of the Wind. In July 2017, I had the life-changing opportunity to travel to Northern Jordan to help The Syria Fund distribute necessities to refugee families, and meet refugee children. With those invaluable experiences and memories, I will be writing my second book on the Syrian civil war to raise awareness about its devastating effects.

This is undoubtedly the biggest humanitarian crisis of our time, with over 1.3 million Syrian refugees living in Jordan. Most actually don't reside in refugee camps, but in urban areas under varying conditions. According to UNHCR, about 119,000 Syrians in Jordan are out of school. Every child deserves to go to school, without having a war dictate their futures. The Syria Fund helps run two schools in Jordan, which allow displaced children to continue their educations. The Syria Fund also runs music and art programs, including one called "Songs for Syrians", and distributes critically-needed supplies to families bought with donations. The donations of people across the world make it possible for the schools to continue running and for hope to remain high.
How can I help?
Donate! It only takes a few minutes and everything helps. As little as $10 means so much to a family devastated by war. If you can't donate, then please share this fundraiser.
Where will my money go?
100% of your donation will go directly to The Syria Fund, where they will buy and distribute critically- needed supplies:
-School supplies (a year's worth costs just $30)
-Hygiene kits, containing soap, shampoo, toothbrushes ($30)
-Teacher's monthly salary ($350)
-Food boxes ($35 buys one food box to supply a family with food for about a week. Food boxes contain: rice, lentils, tomato paste, tea, sugar, milk powder, etc.)
*When I was in Jordan, we used all the donations from this fundraiser to purchase food boxes and school supplies for refugees. I spent days personally distributing food to families in dire poverty and hand-stuffed backpacks with pens, notebooks, etc. It was an incredibly humbling experience and the families were SO grateful!
