Hi, My name is Wilber. I graduated from a Computer and Engineering degree in Managua Nicaragua. I grew up in a rural area with my grandparents and started to study in a small school and became the first university student from my family, found a scholarship at a university and have made the most out of my after university life having worked in areas most commercials as it was there what it is available where I live. For the last years I have worked hard for a Telecommunication company and in my free time I have been serving my community passionately since I was in college, leading groups and translating for groups that come to help in to small rural communities that way I have been able to improve my English skills and been able to fully write and read and communicate in English. From leading and working with groups of volunteers from Organizations Like Green Empowerment, Blacksburgs Sister City Committee and TEDxManagua, I have learned about opportunities to apply to Grad School in the U.S and the world. I’ve always have dreamed about furthering my education and I wish to go for a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Business Analytics. Although I am aware of my capabilities and skills in English there are specific test and requirements that I need to fill up in order to be eligible to apply for a Scholarship in the Business schools, those tests are TOEFL and GRE. In order to be able to get good scores I also need to get preparation courses and then be able to take the test. I’ve work hard to pay my own accommodations and fees and to make a living, and with the work conditions available in here high pay jobs are not readily available for everyone here in Managua. Unfortunately, with a salary of $2.2/hour and the cost of living and expenses I am not able to follow my dream. I am the kind of person that hates asking for help and there lies a little bit of pride. Writing this although is hard, I know that I overcoming that and I am recalling that phrase of Mr.s Clinton “No one gets through life alone” I plan on attending grad school in the fall of 2017, should I get accepted. That means that the application process should start within next three months. Application alone cost between $75 to $200 depending on the school I am applying to. If I am applying to more than one that means the cost are increased as well. GRE itself cost $205 dollars and any additional score report sent to different universities will cost $27 dollars. Along with this cost there is also the TOEFL test $190 plus any additional scores that will be send to the applying schools. I plan on taking both exams but in order to score high I need specialized preparation which is currently unavailable in my country where I live. Usually there is only one place that is available to serve the test few times a year, and even with that place I need to get good preparation. I have been preparing for this test for the last 4 months but I still find it challenging, so in order for me to be well prepared I have been thinking about a GRE preparation in person. For that I would have to travel and spend at least a month in the U.S and pay a fee which it is around $2000 to get the full GRE preparation course plus material resources and coaching included. The Goal that I am asking for this project is : Description Cost GRE in Person Prep. Course & Exam $2205.00 Airfare (From Managua to Blacksburg Va) $900.00 Cost of living and renting inc. food/1Month $1200 TOEFL $190 Total $4,495 For years I have been working and I feel stuck in a limbo where I am not growing up, and I feel stuck in a limbo where I have not very many opportunities to grow. I do not wish to rely only in the education I have taken in here and I would like to further my education with world class type of education which allows me to get better opportunities. Ultimately my goal is to raise this money and go for my dream and then get accepted at a very good university, graduated from it and start a business in my country and also perhaps work as a consultant from online. I am seeing my dream slowly slipping away as I work 50 hours per week on a salary of $2/hour where I am crushed with my living expenses which are not very cheap in here. My savings are up to $300 dollars and with that I can only cover one of the tests but without good preparation I am entitle for a low score which is something I don’t want to. My family is very limited with resources and they can only encourage me to try to find better opportunities. I am hoping that by filling up this plea in gofundme I will find some financial support and can go from there to chase my dreams. Every little bit helps whether you donate or share it with friends that can. I appreciate very much your time for reading.
