Help my family keep shelter!
Organized by: Krystal Wight
My name is Krystal Wight and I've resorted to my last possible option on how to obtain money for my new roof. Back in April we had a pretty bad windstorm in Tacoma, WA. It tore a majority of my shingles and the underlayment paper off. As I take walks with my family, I'm still finding parts of my roof down several blocks, some up to miles away. Because the plywood was exposed during future storms, those have deteriorated as well. My house now leaks into my 3 and 4 year olds bedroom. A roofing company came out and tarped it, which then flew off as well. For each tarp, they charged 421 dollars. So now I owe over 800 dollars and still my roof is not fixed. I've tried applying for loans and credit cards....all of which I've been turned down for due to lack of credit. I have no other family. The state will not help and neither will the FIVE roofing companies I've called. I have homeowners insurance that will only cover a small portion, not even a quarter of what the price is. Before winter comes, I will have to leave a tarp up and move my kids downstairs into the living room to sleep. I don't have any other options but to ask good Samaritans. If I leave my roof unfixed, there will only be further damage to my house. I'm in fear that I will lose my house and warm, comfortable place for my children to sleep. So please, please, lend a helping hand to a family in desperate need. I don't know what else I can do, no one is willing to help of work with me. We would be ever so grateful. I will gladly show pictures of the finished product and pay back the generous acts in any way I can. I am willing to do work for this. I am willing to help in any way I can. I am also willing to pay back any donations if need be and if I can....although it will take an incredible amount of time.....probably years, but I refuse to let any kind act go unnoticed. Please please find it in your heart to help a family in dire need to keep their home. Thank you
