We are helping orphans (no, this isn't an "African orphanage scam") in Bugiri, eastern Uganda to have school tuition, shoes, clothing, and enough to eat. We have a Community Based Organization (CBO) license in Uganda and some of the money we raise will pay the $350 to get an NGO license from the Ugandan government. We plan to help the children by having one sponsor for each child. Currently, we have four sponsors and twenty children who need help. We need kind- hearted and compassionate people who are willing to sponsor one child. The costs are $30 every three months for the tuition, and additional expenses, such as shoes ($10), mosquito nets ($10), mattresses ($80), and birthday parties (approx $50). You don't have to be rich to sponsor a child. I am on Social Security Disability and I am the proud sponsor of an eight-year-old. We do require that you maintain a supportive and loving relationship with your child through letters and pictures. The money we are raising now is to cover the expenses of starting an NGO. Our dream is to have an orphanage where the children will get enough to eat, a clean place to live, schooling, and instruction in Christianity. I am the US Ambassador for the organization. My name is Susan Mercurio and you can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
