It is around the corner of Ambepussa, Sri Lanka an area named "Beerangala". The anicut in this area is badly damaged and not in a condition to be used. Minimum of 250 local people use the water of this place for their main day to day work. The main occupation of the people in the village is farming. For more than a decade this anicut has not been reconstructed. As a result of that walls of the bunt has been cracked and villagers are suffering from many distractions. Due to the above reason, villagers do farming only when it is raining. When there is less rain, villagers are restricted in farming. Further people have to quench their thirst from the village temple away from their houses. They bath daily near this anicut which contains muddy water. First year students of University of Colombo faculty of management and finance took a great step forward towards humanity by offering a helping hand to this helpless villagers. We have organized a mega Fund raising lamp to raise the intial cost for this anicut reconstructions. The estimated initial cost for Beerangala anicut is about $ 4000. It has been an enormous challenge to the young slot of kind hearted brothers and sisters. But we accepted the challenge without any hesitation. So we would like to call up all the humble people who carry humanity in their hearts to join hands with us to make this major cause a success. Your one rupee of contribution can make a change. "Spend a rupee and give a helping hand for someone who needs to drink a drop of water."
