Raise the Roof Baile August 31
August 31, 2016
BENEFITING: Centro Por La Justicia
Centro Por La Justicia is in need of roof repairs. Our offices, community spaces and gallery are housed in this space and to continue our work, we must repair the roof. When it rains, sometimes it pours. We reach out to community and members for assistance in maintaining the integrity of this historical building. Hattie Ruth Elam Briscoe was recognized as the first black woman to enroll in and graduate from St. Mary's University School of Law and housed her offices in this building. The Movement Gallery was once Mr. Taylor's Barbershop where community meet to talk and unwind. Since Centro Por la Justicia acquired the building, there has been no major repairs. We need your help to continue working to build community power and have access to safe spaces for members and neighbors to organize and lead. Every little bit counts.
