A refugee family of three that has recently resettled in the Bay Area (mother, father and daughter of 6 years old) & other families are in need of subsidy to help cover their first five months in the Bay Area.
Our goal is to raise $2000 for the family of three and anything beyond will go to the IRC Bay Area Housing subsidy to support resettled familes in housing .
Lets get to $5000! - 100% of proceeds will go to families adjusting to life in the Bay Area through the International Rescue Committee NorCal Home Subsidy
The resettlement funds, intended to last 90 days are often spent by the first 30 days a refugee is in the country. This is especially difficult when they are still in the process of searching for full-time employment in the Bay Area
What the International Rescue Committee is doing
The International Rescue Committee currently runs the HOME (Housing Outreach Mentorship & Education) program in Oakland which combines direct financial assistance and mentorship to assist newly-arrived refugee families to become self-sufficient and integrated quickly.Learn more about the HOME subsidy here: https://www.rescue.org/announcement/welcome-them-home-support-irc-northern-californias-housing-subsidy
Get involved with the IRC
Join the GenR - short for Generation Rescue- team as a group of humanitarians in the Bay Area join forces with the IRC to help those resettling in the Bay Area + causes internationally. Learn more here.
