This is Richard Bolonge. Bolongie literally means “Good Day” in Buganda, the language they primarily speak in Kampala, Richards home town. I meat him briefly in 2013, when I visited Kampala, and Richard was one of the vibrant city’s many /Boda Boda/ drivers. He showed me and my friends around the city and gave us a good time. Richard is generally a happy guy, but lately he’s had a hard time. It’s now been five months since Richard’s boss lost his motorbike, and since then Richard has been out of work. As the job opportunities are not as numerous as the city’s vast un-skilled labor mass, he sees no other choice but to invest in a motorcycle for himself. Luckily, he knows someone who is willing to sell him a second hand bike at a reasonable price; 180’000 Ugandan Shillings, the equivalent of 50 euros. Now, Bulunge has been able to gather 950’000 UGX but it’s not enough. His friend want’s to sell the bike and has given him until November 1st to raise the remaining amount. You might not solve the world’s problems today, but you can solve Richards …
