Ready for school to start!
September 08, 2016

HI everyone!  I'm on my way!  I arrived in Franklin, TN last Saturday and got a job the next day.  I've visited Dark Horse Institute where See More

THE STORY:

My name is Presyce Baez and I am a singer and songwriter. [https://soundcloud.com/the-collaboration-168359369]  I just graduated from high school this year.  My dream is to work in music.  I am eager to develop the skills and experience that I need to be successful. Toward that end, I plan to study Audio Engineering at the Dark Horse Institute in Franklin, Tennessee.  But I need your help to get there.

Dark Horse is a professional Recording Studio that has made their resouces available so that students can develop the skills necessary to get started in the industry. With the certifications that I earn there, I will be able to support myself doing something that I love, while enhancing my own music.

Although I've been on my own for a year, I am hoping to rasie enough money to attend this 4-6 month program, purchase the basic equipment I need to begin my career, and cover some living expenses while in school and as I get started. Below you can see what things I hope to accomplish.

Overall Goal

  • My immediate goal is support myself in the world and make the choices necessary to be a success in the sound engineering industry.
  • I hope to enhance the work of other artists in the music industry.
  • My ultimate goal is to create a series of music centered facilities/organizations.  These will include music/performance venues, instrumental schools, vocal schools, charities, and a studio.

Charities

  • I hope to start a charity that donates instruments to needy people.  My first guitar cost $50 on sale. To this day, that guitar is as dear to me as my second one which was much more expensive. Not coming from a lot of money, I know what it is to want to learn, but not have the means.  That being said, this charity would gather instruments from wherever possible, through donation.  The charity would then gift these to  a person eager to learn that instrument.

Schools

  • Believing that art paves the road to equality, I would like to someday open a school that would teach musical skills to people of all ages.  This school will teach singing, instrument instruction and sound design skills to anyone with a desire to learn.

Music Studio

  • Recording in a studio is something that initially scared me. All the buttons and gadgets... Eventually however, I realized that once you know what you are doing, it is not as nerve racking. This led me to the conclusion that I can learn to do this part myself one day. Not only would this make me a better sound engineer, it would make me a better musician.

Performance Venue (Very Long Term Goal)

Having a place where people can gather to listen to good music of all kinds, and feel comfortable, energetic and at home is important to me because no matter where I lived, home was the music I listened to and played.  My vision for this venue is:

  • To have a quality of sound
  • To have a sense of home (aka "good vibes")
  • To present a wide range of musical tastes to attract and include everyone
  • To create a dynamic venue that allows the ideas of others help define it

If you would like to hear some of my music you can find it through the soundcloud link below. Also below you can find a link to my personal website, but most of the information on it I will keep updated here as well. Thank you all for your continued support!
