It's our turn to set-up and support the man in the orange shirt, Retired Navy Senior Chief Sid Busch. On 22 May 2016, his car was totaled while driving to see his elderly mother who is in a nursing home in New York. While he was not injured in the accident, he is now without transportation. Sid is a retired E-8, submariner who served in the Navy for over 26 years, from 1965 to 1991. He began running to honor those killed in action in 2001. For each of the over 200 marathons he has completed while carrying an American flag, he runs for a specific fallen Soldier, pinning a picture of them on the back of his orange shirt and then donates the t-shirt and medal to the families; often times in person. Sid is a very proud and humble man who lives on his pension and a couple of extra jobs, mainly to pay for him to run these races in honor of various fallen servicemembers. The funds the insurance will give him for the accident will only pay off the note on the car, and he can't afford to buy a new one. Our goal is to help off set the cost of new (used) vehicle for him which will not only provide transportation to and from work, but enable him to carry on his mission of honoring fallen Soldiers. Anything you can give would be MUCH appreciated. ALL funds will be given directly to Sid. He's a fellow veteran that gave his best years to the service of this country and has dedicated every year since then to making sure that the fallen are never forgotten. It's time for us to help get Sid back underway!!
