Lowell Community Charter Public School is a K1-8, Level 1 inner city charter public school serving 800 students and located in the heart of Lowell, Massachusetts. Today the school is a success story: in 2010 LCCPS was slated for closure but with a new head of school, leadership team, and board of trustees, the school became an academic success in three short years and today stands as a Level 1 school. You can see the commitment and persevering attitude on the faces of every person in the school building.
You can also see that same attitude in its athletes. Faced with obstacles, such as no track to practice on, the track team perseveres and uses what resources it has to ensure that the team is successful. This year, for the third year in a row, members of the track team have the amazing opportunity to travel to California to participate in the Junior Olympics National Track Meet. They have worked hard to get to where they are today.
But there is another obstacle. The team needs funding to get to Sacramento, California from Lowell, Massachusetts.
