Help students realize potential and achieve their dreams
Organized by: Excal Exec
Anyone who watches the news, reads the paper, or attends an educational institution is aware that rising tuition costs and student debt is one of the largest problems of this modern day. There is over $1 trillion in student debt in the United States, and that number only continues to grow. Millions upon millions of students are crippled by the cost of an education and end up with a bill equivalent to or even greater than that of many mortgages after graduation. Due to this issue, so many people are unable to get ahead in the world and achieve the goals they set for themselves. This country would be able to share so many more success stories if students were able to stand up and face the world instead of being crushed by the weight of tens to potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt. Knowing this, seeing it happen to others, and personally suffering from it is sickening. People should not be burdened with these financial troubles, especially being at such a young age and knowing that all they want is to pursue the career of their dreams by being educated. I am among the millions of students suffering from crippling student debt, which is why I want to raise money help help others suffering this same challenge. To anyone who decides to help in this cause, know that every single cent helps. Even if you choose to only donate a penny, it shows you still care. Now, allow me to share a little information about myself and explain personal cause for wanting to fundraise for tuition assistance. I reside just west of the Philadelphia area in a town called Aston. Currently, I am 20 years old and looking to shortly be entering my junior year at an institution known as Neumann University: a small, private college also located in Aston. have been able to keep a 4.0 Grade Point Average for every semester thus far and have managed to build 72 credits over four semesters. The major I have chosen to pursue is Accounting, along with a minor in Mathematics. In addition to this, I am proudly a member of the University's Honors Program. So far this summer, I have been working my first internship that I acquired at WSFS Bank, which has been great thus far! However, with all this being said, I have not been able to obtain a scholarship and the cost of education is beginning to take a severe toll on me. With the cost of tuition rising, it becomes more and more difficult to find ways to obtain financial aid so I can stay in school. As the price of tuition increases, my financial aid package remains constant or even dwindles. It is very clear that if I am unable to get an award or some type of other assistance soon, I may be forced to postpone or even surrender my education. I may be from a small community and attend a small institution, but I have set large goals for my future and I want nothing more than to one day be able to achieve these goals. I want to be able to say that I came from nothing and was able to become a success story, and after being able to say this, I want to motivate and help other people to realize their full potential and strive to achieve their own goals. Sadly, these dreams fade away more and more every day that I am unable to find assistance to help keep up with the extreme cost of tuition. I am sure there are hundreds more in my situation at Neumann alone, and millions more nationwide. I ask that viewers of this help us take a stand and to help the students of today make it through these difficult financial times so that one day they may be able to share their own success stories and give back to the students of the future.
