BENEFITING: Animal Assisted Healing Center
Animal-Assisted Healing Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in northern Utah that is dedicated to providing animal-assisted therapeutic services to all individuals in need. Our mission is to help children, adolescents, adults, and families learn to achieve balance through the mutually beneficial bond with animals. Animal-Assisted Healing Center (AAHC) focus especially on those who are underprivileged, such as those who are poor, disadvantaged, have illness and injury, learning disabilities, and have psychological disabilities such as post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, bipolar, depression, autism, and addiction. AAHC's highly trained and licensed professionals and their animal companions provide treatment goals and execution. Our most common forms of animal-assisted therapy (AAT) are equine-assisted psychotherapy, canine-assisted psychotherapy, and therapeutic horseback riding. AAHC also aims to offer scholarships for disadvantaged individuals to receive discounted or no-cost animal-assisted therapy. While there are many mental health organizations in Utah, there are few who use AAT. Out of those, even less offer scholarships for their services. These scholarships, along with using animals to provide treatment, makes AAHC a very unique organization. AAHC is a new program and is looking for donations as a "kick-off" to help us reach our goals. We are currently participating in fundraisers, writing grant requests, selling items with our logo, and planning events to help further the organization. However, there are still many costs that must be covered. Some of these include event/fundraising costs, the cost of an audited financial statement, animal care costs for our therapy horses and dogs, and other business expenses. AAHC hopes to raise $5,000 to aid in these expenses and ultimately allow in-need individuals to receive quality animal-assisted therapy.
