My father has always frowned upon the homeless. He always makes statements such as "It's their own fault they live this way." I personally do not agree. There are many reasons why someone might be homeless; an eviction from their house because they couldn't afford rent/bills, ran away from an abusive relationship, came back from the military with no place to live, mental illness, drugs or alcohol, etc. The list goes on and on. And yes, some may be the cause of irresponsibility however, some have no participation in their horrible outcome! They have to sleep on the street and freeze in the winter with no help from the medical fields because they simply cannot pay. People may rebuttle with a claim like, "They can just go to a shelter" but you would be surprised by how many don't even know about the nearby shelters or soup kitchens. Help these homeless individuals be able to sleep at night without worry of frostbite, illness, or even death. Help me help them live a more stable life.

Its so easy to pass of homelessness as "overpopulation" or poor choices. And, that could very well be true, yet what hurt could it do if we reached out and fixed those problems? Overpopulation? Lets brainstorm ways to encourage smarter construction, and raise money for those who are in need. People making mistakes because they might now any other way? Lets show them what are parents, family, friends, and personal stories have taught us.
