BENEFITING: MOMMY AND ME CANCER FOUNDATION
Shortly after our youngest daughter was born in 2014, we got the news that Angelica had breast cancer. She was 33. With a 3-year old and a newborn, our family was about to begin a very difficult journey. We tried various treatment options before Angelica started on chemotherapy. A lot of chemo, followed by radiation, surgeries, stays in the hospital.
During the tough times, our family, friends and neighbors were so helpful. People brought us meals, helped care for our daughters while we were at the hospital. We received so much love and encouragement from people close to us and those we'd never even met before. Angelica passed away in November of 2016. She was so brave and courageous throughout her illness. Even in her most difficult moments, she was able to smile, re-assure those around her and even kept a daily gratitude journal to count her blessings. The silver lining from our difficult journey was to see the love and support we received from our community. It was overwhelming, and we were so grateful for everyone who reached out and helped us.
To know that MAMCF offers the same support to other young families experiencing the same challenges is inspiring. I'll be racing in the upcoming Newport Beach triathlon on October 1 in honor of Angelica. She inspired me to be a better person so I want to continue to challenge myself in different ways. Please help the Krickl family - Tony, Amelia and Adelina - support MAMCF and the families it reaches. Angelica would be very proud of our efforts.
