BENEFITING: DAYS FOR GIRLS INTERNATIONAL
Beneficiaries: Operation Blessing's adopted communities in Bukidnon, Philippines
Days for Girls Philippines together with Operation Blessing PH and Jeepney Story Mobile PH are spearheading a collaborative project, driven to help 2 sectors of the community- the children and the women.
The children who will benefit from this project are those who are eligible to enter grade school but their families have no capability to support them financially. The women, on the other hand, are teenagers and mothers, who belong to the underpriviliged communities with no access to sustainable feminine hygiene solutions, and may resort to the use of cloth, paper, leaves when they have their menstruation.
This 2-part project has a mission to help impoverished communities have access to learning and health education, with the goal of helping 300 children in Bukidnon- 150 in Caburacanan and 150 in Valencia be able to go back to school, and 900 women get their Days for Girls kits.
Part of this fundraising activity is for a literacy project that aims to reach the most vulnerable & at risk children in the poorest communities by giving them the "gift of a good read". It seeks to empower the children with literacy tools so that they too may realize their own goals & dreams for a more promising future where they THRIVE & NOT simply SURVIVE .
USD 15,000 will go to Books for Grade 1 students at Valencia Elementary School, Valencia Bukidnon, and Caburacanan Jungle School, Caburacanan, Bukidnon
USD 20,000 will go to their uniforms and shoes
USD 20,000 will be for their daily meals in school and transportation for a year
Part II of this fundraiser will be for the building of an enterprise unit in the Philippines for the production of Days for Girls kits. It aims to build a self-sustaining center, where menstrual hygiene needs in the Philippines will be provided for, and produced within the country, lessening the cost of postage, compared to requesting kits from countries like Australia, USA and Canda. This also provides livelihood to women and girls, and sustainable funding for future activities.
USD 10,000 will be for purchase of sewing machines, sergers, and other eletrical equipments
USD 5,000 will be for the purchase of fabric, drawstrings, ziplocs etc
USD 20,000 will be for building a sewing and activity place for the women, and kids
Thank you all in advance. God bless you all.
