Families In Training (F.I.T.), Inc. develops good citizenship in youth, young adults and their families through strong academic support, a demanding boxing program, and a connection to the community through educational classes, enriching programs and voluntary service.
How We Serve
Families In Training (F.I.T.), Inc. currently serves 25 students between the ages of 7 and18, with 35 more on our waiting list. The number of individuals waiting to enter continues to grow. More than 75% of the enrolled students live within a 3-mile radius of the gym, many of whom are residents of the nearby public housing apartment communities. Their families benefit by taking advantage of educational & life skills training as well as witnessing and participating in our hands-on coaching methodology.
F.I.T. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Every dollar contributed helps to shrink our waiting list and allows us to serve more students to serve families.
Our team has been making a difference in the lives of youth and families for over 12 years. Since 2007, we have been operating out of a shared space. This building has become overcrowded due to it being smaller in size. Our current enrollment has grown to 27 active youth, not to mention our recent marketing efforts has gained us 38 more youth and young adults on our waiting list, and is cost prohibitive to maintain.
Our program focus is that our students to graduate from high school with expanded expectations for their own futures. While graduation rates are hovering around 80 percent for Pulaski County schools. schools, the truth is that they are not reaching competitive levels of academic success and their ACT/SAT capabilities are suffering. Through exposure to myriad enrichment opportunities we’re able to provide our students with a pathway to forming a love for learning. We expose them to careers, colleges, trades, arts and healthy lifestyles that propel them to become positive and productive members of society.
For the last several years, we have spent monies out of pocket to fund and grow our program, and included as many students as have need. In early November, we were finally able to lease a building of our own! Please help us to prepare our building to create, engage, and develop.
Create a safe and productive space for Pulaski county kids from the toughest neighborhoods to develop better self-esteem, higher achievement, and a connection to their communities through volunteer service!
Engage families to become partners in their coaching and community, including those who have been inspired to change their own lives by returning to school!
Develop strategic neighborhood partnerships with other businesses, organizations, and individuals who can work together to enhance all our missions, including those of Families In Training (F.I.T.), Inc. thus improving the quality of the lives of those in the community
Help us enrich lives! Our children DESERVE to be safe, off the streets and have more positive options that will keep them out of jail or the grave. These kids are more than capable of achieving the highest levels of success. Help us get them there by supporting Families In Training (F.I.T.)!
