Kaylee Oosthuizen was diagnosed with bilateral profound sensorineural hearing loss in August 2015 at the age of 15 months. She was fitted with suitable temporary hearing aids by The Pretoria Cochlear Implant Unit on 14 September 2015, but due to the degree of hearing loss, hearing aids alone would not have been able to provide Kaylee with sufficient amplification to hear and develop speech & language. Bilateral cochlear implantations are necessary. Ideally Cochlear Implants should be done before the age of 3yrs, as this is the most crucial time for speech & hearing development. Fortunately we managed to raise just enough funds to have her very first implant done in May 2016, at the age of 2yrs, only two days prior to her birthday. What an amazing birthday gift that truly was! We are now in the process of raising the funds for her second implant, which ideally needs to take place within the next 7 months (before May 2017). We have limited time to perform the second cochlear implant and to make use of the small remaining development window for speech & language. With time, support & patience, we could possibly provide little Kaylee with an almost normal life, one she & all little ones, deserve. Please Help Us, Help Kaylee <3 May God Bless
