BENEFITING: Simple Good
In September of 2016, we joined nonprofit organizations, The Simple Good and Heart Of A Thousand Hills for Project Building Hope, a collaborative effort to provide resources and build additional classrooms for Golden Drop School in the small village of Rwesero, Rwanda. While there, we worked on the physical buildout of the new classrooms, facilitated art classes and conducted outdoor activities with the students. We also worked on an art mural together that is displayed on the outside of the newly completely school building. We fell in love with the kids and many other good people of Rwanda. In a nation with a very difficult past, these young, bright students provide so much hope for the future.
During our time at the school, we learned that the kids had never experienced an art class, nor did they have colored pencils or crayons at school to play and learn with. Many basic school supplies are extremely limited or just not available due to a lack of funds and resources.
Last year's Project Building Hope efforts resulted in the school's ability to accommodate more students. Many of which would not be able to attend school otherwise. All of this was made possible because of the donations raised prior to the trip and we're incredibly grateful for that.
With as much progress has been made, there's still so much more to be done, which is why we're returning to Rwanda during September 2017 to join The Simple Good and Heart Of A Thousand Hills once again. Our remaining fundraising goal is $1,500.00.
Please help us continue bringing hope to Rwanda by making a donation. Even just a $25 donation will go a long way and it's greatly appreciated. Donations will be used towards the following:
-building a bathroom with running water
-school supplies and art materials for the classrooms
-soccer balls for Physical Education
Disclaimer: 100% of all donations will go directly to The Simple Good and Heart Of A Thousand Hills to provide resources for the students attending Golden Drop School. Our plane tickets, accommodations and all other expenses are paid for out of our own pockets.
We are so thankful for all donors and efforts to help us with this project. It means so much to us, but it will truly mean the world for the kids of Rwesero, Rwanda.
With much love and gratitude,
Kristian & Jacob
