Help Yevgeniy to Get Back on His Feet
Organized by: Dan D
Yevgeniy woke up in a hospital bed, as he learned later, after two days of being unconscious and hundreds of miles away from the place he last remembered himself being at. With an excruciating pain in his legs and one eye shut by swelling he tried to recall what happened.
It took him weeks to connect with his mom and his daughter in Ukraine. It took five weeks for him to get to the point when he could start taking care of himself. Stranded in a wheelchair alone in his new home country, caught in-between jobs and no place to return to, this young man was discharged from a hospital. The social workers did all they could to find Yevgeniy a place to stay while recuperating from the surgeries. And Yevgeniy ended up at a Salvation Army’s shelter for homeless in Miami.
He regularly injects himself with antibiotics to prevent infection and hopes to get better soon, so he can get back to work – to start supporting himself and his family again. The doctors expect to remove the cast and the fixating frame within the next 3 weeks. And the rehabilitation should take a few more months.
Yevgeniy, being a very modest person, wouldn’t ask anybody for help. That’s why I am doing it for him. I’ve approached local churches and found volunteers, who will be willing to help him with food, who will check on him and take care of daily chores for him. But he needs a decent place to stay for a few months while he, literally, is getting back on his feet. All the funds raised here will go towards renting a room and paying utilities, phone and other miscellaneous bills for the next 2-3 months.
Please help Yevgeniy to claim his life back!
