Help us support low-income, special needs kids in NYC discover the power of their own voice, find the courage to share their story and receive a hardcopy of their own published book!
The Reynolds Center for Teaching, Learning and Creativity is a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to ensuring that all learners develop the vision, confidence, knowledge and skills needed to move their own lives forward, and to use their talents, strengths and energy to move their communities and the world to a better place.
Founded by best-selling children's book author and illustrator, Peter H. Reynolds (Judy Moody book series, The Dot, Ish) - and his twin brother Paul - The Reynolds Center supports educators and students in more creative ways – with innovative tools and programs that foster creativity and mindful self-expression.
We are working in partnership with the largest special needs school district in the nation - District 75 in NYC - on a year-long exploration of literacy, creativity and STEM. Using creative learning software programs developed by Peter and Paul's educational media/software firm - Fablevision Learning - students will be writing and publishing their stories, as well as animating them. Students involved in this project are on the autism spectrum, have significant cognitive delays, are severely emotionally challenged, sensory impaired and/or multiply disabled. Each student will experience their own, unique writing journey - inspiring them to discover their voice own voice and be brave enough to share it with the world.
While every child will create and print their own personal e-book, they will also have the option to "publish" a hardcover version and feel the pride and confidence that comes from holding their own published work in their hand. We want to make sure that EVERY child has the chance to hold their own published book in their hand, regardless of income or class. Your generous donation will have a direct impact on the life of a child by helping us cover the expense of a hardcover version of their own book for those low-income children and families who cannot afford the additional expense. All donations are tax-deductable. THANK YOU for your support!!
