THE STORY:

My family and I have started on a journey that will and has changed our lives forever. We are in the process of getting our extrodinary little girl Zailey a service dog. Zailey had Prader-Willi Syndrome, Autism, severe scoliosis, sleep apnea, ect. Prader-Willi Syndrome is a potentially life threatening genetic disorder. One of the main components of Prader- Willi is that my daughter is ALWAYS hungry. Zailey doesn't feel fullness, EVER. Zailey suffers from a horrible pain in her stomach telling her that she is hungry every walking moment of her life. Zailey can NEVER be left alone with food or in an enviorment where food is unsecured. If Zailey is left alone with food she could potentially eat herself to death. Our lives are a 24 hour vigil to keep her safe. Just a few other issues we face with Zailey is wandering out of the house and potentially hurting herself. There are dangers all around and her constant eloping (running) outside has reached a critical level. Life has become very complicated with Zaileys cognitive delays, this is coupled with the hunger and social difficulties of Autism has taken our family into another entirely different level of difficulty. A service dog would be life changing for us. This dog could help Zailey stay safe and away from the kitchen and food. The dog could alert us if Zailey has slipped away in the split second that we might have walked away. This dog could help ease some of Zailey's social anxiety and allow her the opportunity to be more of a presence in social situations. The food issue is a huge deal for us. The thought that my daughter could eat herself to death, keeps me up at night. This is just one of many things that cripples Zailey and our family more often than we would like. There is another major challenge that prevents us from living a more normal and safe life, that is the anxiety that can be all encompassing on my little angel. This service dog could help connect with Zailey on a level that no one else has been able to master. A service dog can be trained to connect with my daughter emotionally to help keep her safe and calm in those moments Zailey feels so out of control and is ready to harm herself or someone else. My daughter is one of the most amazing children you will ever meet in your lifetime! Zailey has the ability to brighten lives of all she meets! I want to do everything that I can possibly do to not only give my child a chance at a happy life but a safe life. We do all that we can but sometimes I feel a hand too short. And I can't always be right there. As this service dog can ! Along with Zaileys anxiety comes uncontrolled picking and fidgeting where this dog can be trained to interrupt and distract her and calm her nerves down to help prevent infections, as she is allergic to most oral antibiotics. This dog will also help Zailey learn responsibility and get more active along with teaching coping skills and have a companion by her side. This dog will help not only emotionally but physically too! Please help my family and I on this journey. These last few years has taken a financial toll on our family and we are asking for your help to fundraise. We need this more than anything in the world for our little girl. We are so thankful for all that you are willing to do to help Zailey live her life to her full potential. If you have any questions please ask.
