On april 25, Nepal was hit by a devastating 7.9 earthquake. The death toll has reached more than 5,000, and as that number rises, so does the number of children left orphaned on the streets. The path of destruction from the earthquake has left one of my fellow CNN Heroes, Pushpa Basnet, and the 45 orphaned children who she cares for living in a makeshift greenhouse. They are cold, scared, and have limited access to food and water. My heart aches for Pushpa, as I personally know what this feels like. When the 2010 earthquake hit Haiti, we lost orphanages and sustained damage to others. Please join Planting Peace and help raise funds to help Pushpa and her children rebuild and get back home.
