Help Alix and R-Vets Provide Vet Care for Underserved Areas
Organized by: Alix Herestofa
I am a first year veterinary student at Cornell University and I have the privilege to gain experience while making a difference this summer with R-Vets. R-Vets is a non-profit organization that has been providing veterinary care to under-served, rural areas in the United States and abroad for over fifteen years. They do so with funding through donations and with the manpower of lucky veterinary students. With R-Vets, I will have the opportunity to gain valuable veterinary skills in anesthesia, surgery, medicine, and basic patient care all while helping horses which may otherwise never see a veterinarian in their lifetime. This summer, a team of other vet students and I along with dedicated vets and technicians, will travel through North Dakota and South Dakota for two weeks making stops at ranches and farms that desperately need our help to treat their sick horses, and vaccinate and castrate their healthy ones.
Vet school is expensive, but opportunities to gain experience while helping humans and animals are invaluable. Please help me fund my trip by making any contribution you can. Every little bit helps! If you would prefer to send me checks rather than use the online site which charges a very small fee, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for my address. Thank you so much in advance!
