BENEFITING: NEW ENGLAND INNOCENCE PROJECT
Each year, the Innocence Network holds its annual conference, bringing over 550 attendees—including at least 150 exonerees—to connect about the unique challenges faced by the innocence movement. This is an especially important event for exonerees from all over the country, giving them the opportunity to share their experiences in small story-telling and writing workshops.
Angel Echavarria and Ronjon Cameron, clients of the CPCS Innocence Program and The New England Innocence Project, were both exonerated in the past year. Angel Echavarria was exonerated on June 15, 2015, after having spent 21 years in Massachusetts jails and prisons for a crime he did not commit. Ronjon Cameron was exonerated on November 23, 2015, after having spent 14 years in Massachusetts jails and prisons for a crime he did not commit. This will be Angel’s and Ronjon’s first year attending the Innocence Network Conference with their loved ones, which is being held in San Antonio, Texas. Together, we hope to raise $5,000 to cover travel expenses to ensure that they are able to attend the conference and to connect with other exonerees in similar circumstances.

Thank you for your consideration and for providing a means for them to tell their stories.
The New England Innocence Project (NEIP) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2000 with the goal of identifying and exonerating wrongly convicted individuals in Massachusetts and throughout New England. The Running for Innocence (RFI) campaign offers a unique and important way to support the work of bringing innocence claims to light by contributing directly to the costs of expert case review, private investigation and DNA consultation and testing.
