Please Help Keep Us Off The Streets
Organized by: Keith Tucker
My name is Keith Tucker, over the last 8 years I have lost my hard earned middle class life and now we live in poverty. I am 60, out of work now for 6 months, divorced, bankrupt and living in two rented rooms for my daughter(23) and me. I would not be here asking for help if there were any other option. Since 2008, I have only found temporary contract jobs, and was laid off from the last 1 year contract January. I have been unable to find employment at all. My total 26 weeks of unemployment has run out, and no extension of benefits. No savings left, no assets left, all sold off over the last several years and no family to help. Now I have 2 weeks left to earn the rent. 9/1/2015 or we are literally in the street. There is no government help other than food stamps (one of the things I did not know). Our government gave money to churches to help people with rent but being so far down the latter, we are renting rooms we have no lease or contract with the property owner. We rent from the renter, without a lease with the property owner and a job (income) or an addiction to drugs or children under 18. We can receive no social system help from any agency or Church other than food. Once unemployment runs out and your savings is gone the next step is the streets and the loss of anything you can't carry. So out of pure desperation I decided to document what I have found to be true that I did not know to be true until I began the loss of all I earned and my middle class life. At 52 my nightmare began, now 60. Hey don't worry I'm not writing to give you the details of my story, just the surprising things I have found along the way and a little opinion. Well okay, a lot of opinion. You can read my blog at: http://screenarts.net/blogs/ If you find what I share with you to be of interest or just want to help us out please do and thank you. I have established this account. Please if you can spare a dime, or if you can't please share the link.
