Help a Veteran with Liver Cancer

THE STORY:

Jim Osborn is my husband. We were told he had a tumor on January 15, 2014, and got married on January 30. The tumor in his liver is so big, and the rest of his liver is so damaged from Hepatitis C that transplant or resection is out of the question. He has a shunt, so no radiation. He can't handle the only chemo treatment available for his type of cancer, so we're out of options.

During his treatment by the medical professionals, his health deteriorated rapidly and, probably due to all the medication the doctors were trying out on him, he lost his appetite and quit eating. He lost 60 pounds in 4 months, his kidneys stopped working correctly and now he's just had to have paracentesis to drain his abdomen.

Because he went downhill so fast, I've stopped working to care for him. I've just used up my FMLA, and I'm now hanging on to my job by the grace of the company I work for. Haven't had a paycheck in 2 months, so we're surviving on his disability retirement and very small social security income. It doesn't stretch for the month and we are falling behind fast. My daughter pitched in and paid a bill for us but she can only afford a little bit over her own expenses.
