Help A Victim Smile Again For Christmas
Organized by: Alicia Champion
She has been without a smile since 2011 mostly because she's embarrassed of her oral appearance and it's a constant reminder of what happened to her. She has not been able to secure employment after losing her job and it's most likely due to her lack of smiling/teeth when she's interviewing. She has tried to find resources over the years though because she isn't a senior citizen, a child, nor homeless there seems not to be any assistance programs available to help her. Because of this, I decided to see if this could be a way to help her get her smile back.
She lives in Detroit, MI and has devoted many years servicing high poverty community areas and inner city schools with youth programming. She is a single parent of a young male in elementary school whom I'm sure would love to see his mom smile more often instead of feeling embarrassed and shameful feeling at his birthday parties, celebrations, and sport functions when she opens her mouth and people see what's hidden behind her lips. Despite her pain she has continued to try and bring smiles to others through her good deeds and will to help others.
She deserves to smile just as much as the persons she freely helps.
