After much thought about what I should do in the "movement" and watching how social media and digital spaces have been used to mobilize and give counter narratives, I decided I would like to use tech and digital to help my communities. I moved to DC from Ohio hoping to find employment in progressive politics.
I am asking for monetary donations that will help cover rent, transportation, food, and furnishings while I job search.
Currently, I volunteer with a non-profit focused on increasing diversity in politics, in addition to instructing a camp at the Boys & Girls Club (paid). I also had money from my previous employment (gone now). I was also accepted to and given a full scholarship to attend New Organizing Institute's Digital Bootcamp. I have also been using online resources to learn to code. So I'm not just sitting around wishing for a job lol
Friends and my boyfriend have given me money to help out thus far, in case you wonder how I have been surviving. My grandparents are on a fixed income and my mother was just recently released from prison so I can't go to my immediate family right now. You know how that isht go *Drake voice*.
Send out good vibes, prayers, and well wishes, too. I had 3 interviews this week so let's hope at least one works out in my favor. Thank you for any and all donations. :)
7/24 UPDATE: Have a place and landlord willing to work with me. I still owe $200 by the 1st but have moved in.
8/3 UPDATE: Got a job :) So any extra money I raise is going towards groceries and getting around the city until I get paid.
